Open Source Chat script details The "Open Source Chat" name is misleading. The script is actually offered under a commercial license.
Coded in PHP, the Open Source Chat script is an on-page IM tool, a chat window that can be overlayed on all site pages and provide a quick way for users to get in contact with you.
All messages sent via the chat windows are sent to the script's backend, where the admin or one of his staff can stay logged in and respond to all questions and inquires.
Open Source Chat works in real-time and will also log all conversations for quality control or other purposes.
It also gathers all the information it can from the user's IP address and browser user agent string.
The script can also work in offline mode when no administrator is logged on, and for moments when the admin is working on something else, he can rely on the chat's sound notification system to let him know when someone contacts him.
